One of the earliest forms of therapy is getting a patient to laugh is. There are many parts to laughter, but one of the main aspects has something to do with surprise. The punchline of a joke has some sort of a twist, which surprises you. Because of this unpredicted twist, it is funny. The contrary is a person who is so serious has been worked on so hard by life that the become surprised by nothing, therefore they do not laugh. The surprise aspect occurs because of predictability. The person who does not laugh has no intentions at predicting anything. A person who laughs, does.

How can this be fixed?

Have yourself imagine yourself laughing. You probably laughed out loud if you did. Good. Now imagine lots of people around you laughing. Contagious isn’t it? If it isn’t, alternate imagining yourself laughing and others laughing around you.

Now just start laughing. Good! Keep laughing. Great!

Now repeat laughing until you are satisfied that you can enjoy a good laugh without any reason whatsoever!

Laugh and laugh heartily everyday. Heard a good joke? Tell your friends or family about it. As they say, laughter is the best medicine.

There is cause and effect. You decide to be either with many things, including your emotions. If an angry person talks to you, you can decide to talk back angrily or not. In this way you can have the emotion you want.

If you force yourself to smile, you’ll soon stop frowning.

If you force yourself to laugh then you’ll soon find something to laugh about.

If you act enthusiastically you will become enthusiastic.

A person is naturally creative. You create your own feelings and emotions. So be creative!
