One of the earliest forms of therapy is getting a patient to laugh is. There are many parts to laughter, but one of the main aspects has something to do with surprise. The punchline of a joke has some sort of a twist, which surprises you. Because of this unpredicted twist, it is funny. The contrary is a person who is so serious has been worked on so hard by life that the become surprised by nothing, therefore they do not laugh. The surprise aspect occurs because of predictability. The person who does not laugh has no intentions at predicting anything. A person who laughs, does.

How can this be fixed?

Have yourself imagine yourself laughing. You probably laughed out loud if you did. Good. Now imagine lots of people around you laughing. Contagious isn’t it? If it isn’t, alternate imagining yourself laughing and others laughing around you.

Now just start laughing. Good! Keep laughing. Great!

Now repeat laughing until you are satisfied that you can enjoy a good laugh without any reason whatsoever!

Laugh and laugh heartily everyday. Heard a good joke? Tell your friends or family about it. As they say, laughter is the best medicine.

Are you burdened with a challenge that you don’t think you are up to? Do you have to conduct a talk in front of lots of people? Does that work load seem so much that it is off putting? There is a simple technique you can use now.

It is sometimes easy to fall into the trap of minimizing yourself and your abilities, but this is fatal if it becomes a habit pattern.

Instead of minimizing yourself and avoiding those things that make you uneasy, turn the tables on it. When you avoid those things you actually become smaller, and more at an effect of those things you have avoided.

This is what you do. For example, if you have to talk in front of 5 people and this makes you uneasy, you picture you are talking in front of 10. You feel better about that don’t you? This is because the more you confront, the more you grow as a person, and the more able you become. If your work load is huge, imagine doubling it. Again you will feel the same way. You will get a “Gung ho” feeling and will get ready for action. This technique is applicable to anything, weather it is talking to girls, job interviews, long distance driving, anything!

Your mind and memory is only as good as the use you make of it. It has been shown by Professor Mark Rosensweig in California that if we were fed 10 new pieces of information every second for a whole lifetime to a human brain, that it would only be considerably less than half full.

The Journey System

With the Journey System you use a journey, a journey that perhaps is familiar to you, and position your ideas along the way. This memory system is good for memorising lists of things in a certain order. You mentally run through the journey and meet each thing memorised in turn. The classic is a shopping list. Lets say you want to remember eggs, milk, cheese, carrots, bread, butter, and jam. As with all other memory systems you want to use as many perceptions and sensations as possible. Lets say you open your front door, as you take a step out crunch! You have stepped on the eggs! The yolk is all over the ground now! And on your feet! You wipe your feet on the mat, but oh no, you have knocked over some milk bottles and the milk is running down your path! There is gallons of the stuff, the whole path is white! When you get to the front gate you notice it is not the usual gate, but a one made of cheese! You open it but it just crumbles. Smell that cheese. You get the idea? Continue creating these scenarios on your journey. Make the images as vivid as possible. Get creative with it as well, the stranger the better!

The Link System

The Link System is very similar to that of the Journey System. Instead of placing items to remember along a journey, you link them together instead.

The Peg System

There are several types of peg system, namely the number shape system, the number sound system, the number system, and the roman room system.

The Number Shape System

As the name suggests, this memory technique uses shapes that represent the numbers 1-10. For example, the number one could be a lighthouse, a candle, or even an erect penis. Number two could be a swan. Number 3 could be hills, or even breasts. Whatever is most appealing to you.

To memorize the shopping list again one could see eggs falling from the top of a lighthouse, crashing down on the rocks below. For number two, a swan could be swimming in a lake of milk, and so on.

This memory technique is useful when you need to memorize a list not necessarily in any order. The limitation is that it is most useful for lists of up to 10 items. You could get really creative and use more than one number shape – therefore allowing you to memorize 100 items.

The Number Sound System

Again, as the title suggests, this memorization technique uses the sounds of numbers to link objects to. For example, number one could be bun, sun, or anything that rhymes with one in your particular accent. Two could be shoe. Three could be tree. Four, door etc. Again this should be your choice as you will be using it, and it is used in the same method as the number shape system. You could even use a combination of both. The key thing about these techniques is creativity.

The Roman Room System

This system dates back to roman times when actors and senetors needed to impress audiences. They would create a mental model of the layout of their homes, as well as the objects in it. On each of the objects they would attach items they wish to memorize. You can do the same with your home. Using the shopping example again, you could place eggs in a plant pot, milk on your sofa, cheese on your coat stand. You could also use various places, for instance the houses of families and many other places to form an unlimited space for storage.

The Number System

With this memorization system a key is used to represent long numbers. Each number has its corresponding letter or letter sound. No vowels are used to associate with a number. They are simply used to ‘pad out’ the consonant associations.

0 – z/s : ‘z’ as in zero, ’s’ as it looks similar to z. ‘O’ is the last letter of zero

1 – l : ‘l’ looks similar to 1

2 – n : two downward strokes

3 – m : three downward strokes

4 – r : ‘r’ as in the last sound of ‘four’

5 – f/v : ‘f’ or ‘v’ in ‘five’

6 – b/p : ‘b’ looks similar to 6, ‘p’ and ‘b’ sound similar

7 – t : ‘T’ looks similar to a 7

8 – ch/sh/j : because of the ‘gh’ in ‘eight’

9 – g : ‘g’ looks similar to a 9

So for example say you needed to remember a number 7754984303. With this system you could

77 – tit
549 – forge
84 – shore
303 – mom

From that you can form a sentance such as ‘a tit forged on a shore for my mom’. Again, you can get creative. This one takes a lot of practice to master.

Memory Exercise

This is a general memory exercise you can do at anytime or even when you are lying in bed. What you want to do is pick a moment that you had during the day, be it when you first got out of bed or when you left the house and walked to your car. Simply choose an event during the day, and run through it as if it was happening now. For example, lets choose leaving the house. See again you pulling the door shut, put your attention on the colour of the door, how cold the metal handle feels, the smell of the air outside, the position of your body, the feeling of the breakfast that you had, what you were thinking at the time, the clothes touching your body. Re-experience as it happened, turning around and facing the outside world, the vision slightly shake with each footstep, who you can see outside. Continue this for about a minute or so of that journey. You can do it as many times as you feel like. Continue this each night for two weeks. You will see a big difference in your ability to remember and also to imagine. Do not be scared if your ability to imaging becomes vivid.

The basic formula of living is having and following a basic purpose. Without goals, hopes, ambitions or dreams, the attainment of pleasure is nearly impossible. What we are going to do is reignite your own true goals. No man is happy without a goal, and no-one can be happy without faith in his own ability to reach that goal.

If a child comes to you and says “I don’t feel so good”, you respond “where does it hurt?”. The child tells you where and you begin the process of fixing the ailing area. So why don’t people do the same thing in their life? They don’t ask themselves the right question, because they don’t know the right question.

The decisions you have made in the past affect you today. In this way, the irrationalities, fears, aversions, dislikes, and barriers preventing you from reaching your goals are there simply because of decisions you have made. The environment you are in today is confused with the environment of that of yesterday. What we will do is clear those decisions out of the way so that your environment and future is not confused.

This could be anything, from losing weight to being more confident in yourself and your abilities. It could be any problems you have talking to the opposite sex, public speaking, or just barriers in the way of you doing and achieving what you want to do in life.

What we are going to do is make a list of all the things that you are upset about, what you really want to see changed in your life. We want to find out what exactly you are upset about or what you want to see changed. We want the real deal. We want to get to the bottom of the decisions and considerations you have.

First of all, write down the main thing that you are upset about, what it is that is bothering you, whatever behavior pattern, thought pattern, past bad experience that is still bothering you

Ask yourself “what is wrong with that?”, “Why?”

Write down the answer

Repeat 2 and 3 until you have a real eureka moment

Now that you have the real issue underlying how you feel we need to find out the earliest time when that incident or idea occurred. Keep scanning around until you find what is most real to you. By just finding this you will get a feeling of relief.

Now, regarding that incident or time, ask yourself each of the following questions in turn. You may not be able to answer each one, if not, continue on to the next question.

At that time, was anything suppressed?

At that time, was anything you were careful of?

At that time, was anything didn’t reveal?

At that time, was there anything there that you said wasn’t there?

At that time, was anything suggested?

At that time, had a mistake been made?

At that time, was anything protested?

At that time, was anything you were anxious about?

At that time, was anything decided?

At that time, was anything withdrawn from?

At that time, was anything reached?

At that time, was anything ignored?

At that time, was anything stated?

At that time, was anything helped?

At that time, was anything altered?

At that time, was anything revealed?

At that time, was anything asserted?

At that time, was anything agreed with?

If you have experienced a good deal of relief, end off and enjoy the feeling. If you feel that there is more, go to the beginning step and repeat.

How does a quick, easy, and best of all drug-free way
to eliminate all this stress from your life? All this along with enjoying some
amazing health benefits at the same time.

More and more studies at top research facilities around the world are documenting scientific evidence of the health and longevity benefits of meditation. In fact, it’s become a widely acknowledged fact that daily meditation is not just good for you-but has been proven to actually extend your life.

But in these hectic times it is very difficult to master the art of meditation. According to the Centerpointe Research Institute, they have created a proprietary audio technology called Centerpointe Research Institute® that instantly (and gently) puts you into deep states of meditation (in fact, even deeper than those achieved by veteran Zen Monks), at the push of a button.

This means that you can now start enjoying and profiting from all the recognized health benefits of deep meditation beginning the very first day you use it instead of waiting through years of hard practice. According to the Centerpointe Research Institute you can dramatically improve your mental, and emotional health.

As of this writing, over 750,0000 people have used Centerpointe Research Institute to dramatically improve their lives. There is also a no-charge demo CD so you can see for yourself how Centerpointe Research Institute works. If you do decide to take advantage of Centerpointe Research Institute it even comes with a full one-year guarantee, so there’s still no risk to you to try it.

Here’s just a “taste” of what The Centerpointe Research Institute Solution can do for you…

It can allow you to effortlessly reach states of super-deep meditation – even the very first time you use it

It can dramatically accelerate your mental, emotional, and spiritual growth, giving you the results you always THOUGHT you were supposed to get from meditation (but, if you’re like most people, never really got)…

It creates healing of emotional traumas and self-imposed limitations forever, even for people who have been unsuccessful with other methods…

It actually slows the aging process by stimulating the production of many neurochemicals and other substances in the body that are associated with longevity, well-being, and better health…

It can dramatically raise your threshold for stress and cause stress-induced dysfunctional feelings and behaviors (including anger, depression, fear, anxiety, substance abuse, and many others) to fall away…

It can increase your self-awareness, inner peace, and happiness, as well as your ability to connect with other people and create successful relationships.

If you’ve tried meditation, or some of those other personal growth approaches that just didn’t deliver, or want to go MUCH deeper, with faster results… or if you just want to grow and improve your life at an accelerated pace, I know you’ll love The Centerpointe Research Institute Solution.

25,000 words per minute? Can you really understand the subject of a whole book within an hour? Sounds impossible? Not according to Paul Schele, the developer of photoreading.

What is it?

Photoreading is a technique which uses a “whole mind” approach to studying, so it differs from “speed reading”. It also works with any type of subject matter, so it is a very flexible technique.

Basic outline of technique

Prepare

Before you start on endevcour you must have a purpose. With photoreading this means stating a definate desired outcome for reading. It may be that you want to understand the fundamentals of something so you won’t be lost in a conversation about the given subject. It may be that you want the answer to a specific problem you are working on. Whatever it is the first step is purpose.

Along with this step is conditioning yourself to be in a state of “relaxed alertness”. This really is a state of calmness, not letting your mind race ahead of itself. An analogy would be when children are playing, not a care in the world!

Preview

This step, as the name suggests, is previewing the given subject. Think of it as an inverted pyramid, where learning on a granular level would be the tip of the pyramid and a complete covering of the subject would be the inverted base of the pyramid. A working from the whole to the the parts.

First you survey the material. Again this is not concentrating on the granular detail, really browsing through pages, letting the subjects key words or trigger words register. Trigger words anchor themselves so later on they and the subject become more real. About five minutes is given for a book. You look at the index page, chapter headings, page headings, and scanning over paragraphs. This stage gives you a mental structure of the material

Photoread

The photoreading technique begins again with the alert relaxed state of mind. Now you adjust your vision to the “photo focus” state. This means focusing your eyes to the optimum focus for the whole of the page/pages. A sort of “looking through” the page. The theory is that the brain performs a pattern matching function and recognises the words and content on the page. You spend literally 1 second on each page, so obviously you may conscioulsy know nothing of what you just looked at.

Activate

This is where you bring to the conscious awareness what you have covered. Activation is where you restimulate your mind with questions while exploring parts of what you have read that become more attractive to you. You then “super read” these, scanning down each page or column. When you find an area that indicates, then you “dip into” it and read it at your normal pace. Other techniques are used at this stage, one of them is mind mapping.

Rapid read

This final step is the closest to speed reading, rapidly moving the eyes along each line or sets of lines.

Benefits

Not only are there obvious benefits are getting through any information at many times faster therefore saving lost of time during the day and sending productivity through the roof, but others such as improving your memory, sharpening your concentration, reading easier with better understanding. Other manifestations such as improved intuition have also been reported.

Here is a news report giving an overview of photoreading:

PMA! PMA! The emphasis on mental health has increased along with the pace of modern lifestyles. With deadlines, mortgages and bills there is stress stress stress. A little stress is good, but when the balance is tipped then something has to give. Part of every successful person is the drive to get better and better, to push their abilities further and further. It is always possible to improve and how good can you really get anyway?

So we have modern lifestyles with its incumbent stress, those who feel fine but want to improve what they have got. How can you improve then? Hypnosis and self hypnosis have been around a long time, but where are all the success stories? It seems the only “miracle” stories are few and far between. NLP it seems has taken over the market these days. But is all of this necessary for simply developing a winning attitude? The classic “every day in every way I’m getting better and better” is the classic phrase, or mantra, has been adopted by the hypnosis community, but in reality this phrase is just an affirmation of yourself.

Life is full of traumatic experiences, and full of people going through those experiences. Upsets can be as contagious as any disease. A man’s dog dies and he walks along the street glowering at people. They have no idea what he is going though, yet that glower will affect them negatively. It is natural for a person who has any sort of upset to feel sad – that is the appropriate emotion for the experience. If a person feels sad for no apparent reason, this is an area where positive thinking will work wonders.

Each and every time you think the same thought, patterns in your mind and even a physical change in neurones occur in your brain. This is scientific fact. A person can and does get into certain behavior patterns – either good or bad. The more times you have thought the way you have thought, the more solid it appears. The more “thats just the way it is” it seems to be. This is not necessarily true. It is as solid as you are making it.

If you have been thinking negative thoughts for weeks, years, or even most of your lifetime, you should not expect overnight success. This is not impossible, but just like those people who have gained a lot of pounds over several years will not lose that weight in a healthy manner in days or even weeks. The same is with changing your thinking patterns. If you are thinking negative thoughts, and have set up those mental circuits you will experience a conflict in thoughts when you start thinking positively. This is where you need to be tough and push through it.

You have the ability to do so, because you are the one who set those thoughts up to begin with! Thats right. The first step is taking responsibility for it. That is not to say blame yourself, that is not true responsibility. It is the first step to becoming cause rather than effect.

Once you have done that, now make realistic goals. Think about the phrase “I’m never going to be unhappy again”. That might sound positive at first glance, but it is very negative. First of all, it would be impossible. Second, the loss of a loved one would make one upset. You would become somewhat of a social outcast if you did make that phrase come true. Thirdly, it actually emphasizes negatives. Instead of “will not”, “wont”, “shouldn’t” etc put them into positives. “I can”, “I am”, “I feel” etc have an emphasis on your true abilities.

Now, with the emphasis on the positive, make the positivity realistic. Do not confuse positive thinking with dreams, dreams are good stuff. They are things like “I will have a boat one day” type of thing. That is great, but for now we really want to emphasize the here and now. Try and emphasize the present time. Sit down in a comfortable space. Feel how comfortable the chair is, allow yourself to relax. Sit up straight. Take in a deep breath and relax. Find a truth in how you feel and are thinking. By this I mean find something that is true for you, like “I feel relaxed and I like it”, something like that. You will brighten up and feel better.

The trap that people get into when negativity encroaches onto them is buying into it. It has been said that the truth shall set you free, well if the negativity was true then you would feel good about it wouldn’t you? Focus on the positive.

Do the above as much as you like. If negativity creeps in do not worry about it, just acknowledge that it is there and that at some point it will be resolved. Now you can start living again. Keep your posture good. This is a feedback mechanism that the body has. If you straighten yourself up now, do it, you will feel brighter and have a higher self-esteem. Keep this up. Now, why not treat yourself to some new clothes? Something that flatters yourself. Take the time to smile at someone. They will feel how good you feel about yourself. The future is yours!

There are many binaural beat mind improvement cd programmes on the net, but this one certainly does makes changes to your life. The Insight CD is tool which helps to reduce stress, it improves sleep, and helps you to achieve deeper levels of self awareness and personal insight. The way binaural beats work is that two different wavelenghts which compliment each other are played on each ear. The mind and brain realise that these two signals are different and sets about trying to integrate the wavelengths together. In this way new neural pathways are opened up between the left and right hemispheres. Deeper brainwave levels are produced as an effect. So by listening to the CD through headphones, you can:

Significantly reduce stress and anxiety

Improve your sleep and increase energy and vitality

Achieve profound states of deep meditation and relaxation

Improve mental and emotional well-being

Awaken your potential for long-term personal growth

Dramatically increase your self-awareness

Take your creativity and motivation to new levels

The Insight program has been used for those who practice self hypnosis or meditation. The relaxing meditative state produced by the CD has, according to Insight, been proven to reduce stress and anxiety, to dramatically improve the quality of your sleep, and to promote long-term improvement in mental and emotional well-being.

I have used the CD myself and have found it to be the best thing I have come across to enhance ones thinking capabilities. I seemed to get more inteligent, taking less time to learn things. The most impressive thing I discovered was that I began waking up fully refreshed quite early in the mornings – even weekends! This was quite a revelation for me. I tried the insight program the first time as I went to bed. Within 10 minutes I was asleep. I sometimes have difficulty sleeping, though not really suffering from insomnia. On the contrary, I suffered from not being able to get out of the bed in the mornings! This is why I say the insight program is THE best mind improvement tool. After the first time I listened to it I woke up at 7am full of energy! I could not believe it. And this wasn’t a “one-off”. I have not since reverted; naturally awakening between 7-8am.

The other benefits as mentioned above also manifested. This is a GREAT product! Check out the insight program yourself.

The program is also available in a 2 disc set including the Focus program. For more information visit the awakened minds website.
